2019 Annual Leaf Pick-Up Program Begins Oct. 28
The Boardman Township Trustees will conduct their annual Leaf Pick-Up Program beginning Monday, October 28, 2019 and ending Friday, November 22, 2019.
The 2019 Program will follow the same schedule for leaf pick-up as it has in the past. A complete list of pick-up days for each road can be found here. Leaves are to be placed in recyclable brown paper bags and brought to the curb for pick-up by the Township Road Department. The paper bags are available for purchase at local retail stores.
Due to the Veterans Day holiday, no leaves will be picked up on Monday, November 11th. Pick-up will resume Tuesday, November 12th. If you have any questions, please contact the Boardman Township Road Department at 330-726-4190.
Bids Accepted Through Sept. 23 for West Huntington Drive Project
Sealed proposals will be received by the Board of Boardman Township Trustees until the bid submission date: 12:00 NOON, (BOARDMAN TIME) MONDAY SEPTEMBER 23, 2019, at the BOARDMAN TOWNSHIP ROAD DEPARTMENT, 8299 MARKET STREET, BOARDMAN, OHIO 44512, and opened and read aloud at 5:30 PM that day at the Boardman Township Trustees Board Meeting, 8299 Market Street, Boardman, Ohio 44512 for a project at West Huntington Drive in Boardman Township.

August 26 Trustees Meeting Is Cancelled
The Boardman Trustees meeting originally scheduled for Monday, August 26 has been cancelled.
The next scheduled Trustees meeting is set for Monday, September 9 at 5:30 pm in the Meeting Room at the Main Fire Station.
SBA Loans Available for Businesses Damaged by Flooding
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has added Mahoning and the surrounding counties to the disaster declaration in Ohio for businesses and residents affected by the severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, flooding and landslides of May 27–29, 2019.
Businesses and private nonprofit organizations of any size may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace disaster damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory, and other business assets. Applicants may be eligible for a loan increase up to 20 percent of their physical damages, as verified by the SBA for mitigation purposes. Eligible mitigation improvements may include a safe room or storm shelter, sump pump, French drain or retaining wall to help protect property and occupants from future damage caused by a similar disaster.
For small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and most private nonprofit organizations, the SBA offers Economic Injury Disaster Loans to help meet working capital needs caused by the disaster. Economic Injury Disaster Loan assistance is available regardless of whether the business suffered any physical property damage.
Disaster loans up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace disaster damaged or destroyed real estate. Homeowners and renters are eligible up to $40,000 to repair or replace disaster damaged or destroyed personal property.
Applicants may apply online using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via the SBA’s secure website at DisasterLoan.sba.gov.

FEMA Disaster Recovery Center Will Remain Open
The Disaster Recovery Center that had been scheduled to be open in Boardman from July 12–16 will now remain open until further notice to help renters, homeowners and businesses in Ohio affected by the tornadoes, storms and flooding of May 27–29, 2019.
At the Disaster Recovery Center, representatives from FEMA, U.S. Small Business Administration, Ohio Emergency Management Agency and other Ohio agencies are available to explain disaster assistance programs, answer questions about written correspondence and provide literature about repairs and rebuilding to make homes more disaster resistant.
Before visiting a recovery center, survivors should register for federal assistance one of the following ways:
- Online at DisasterAssistance.gov;
- Using the FEMA App; or
- Call 800-621-3362 (including 711 or Video Relay). TTY users can call 800-462-7585. The toll-free numbers are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET, seven days a week. Multilingual operators are available.
In Boardman, the recovery center will be open at the Boardman Township Administration Building, 8299 Market Street from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Part of S. Cadillac Dr. Closed for Culvert Repairs
South Cadillac Drive between Glenwood Avenue and Market Street will close for 60 days beginning June 20 for culvert repairs.
Traffic will be detoured to North Cadillac Drive.

“Walking School Bus” Planned for Robinwood Students May 8
On Wednesday, May 8, Robinwood Lane Elementary and Boardman Township Zoning will be hosting a Walking School Bus.
Students will be “picked up” at the designated spots and escorted to the school by Township employees and school staff.
Walking school buses are a great way to see the neighborhood, get some exercise, and arrive to school awake and ready to learn.
All participating students will receive a high-visibility safety vest. Healthy snacks will also be provided to students participating in the walk.
Pick-up points are anywhere along the routes. Students can meet at 7:30 a.m. at a point or join us along the route.
Be Aware of Outdoor Burning Regulations in Boardman
Each year during the spring and fall seasons the state of Ohio has an increase in the number of wildfires and brush fires. It is because of this that the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, the Ohio Division of Natural Resources and local Fire Departments have laws and regulations regarding outdoor burning and fires.
Statewide, outdoor burning is prohibited during the spring months of March, April and May from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Outdoor burning is also prohibited during the fall months of October and November from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. The dry conditions at these two times of year increase the possibility for wildfires to occur. In the event the Boardman Fire Department is called for outdoor burning during the listed hours, a report will be made with the Ohio EPA and parties may be subject to citation.
We also have local rules and regulations in Boardman Township that must be followed when burning occurs during approved times.
- The only approved burning material in Boardman Township is seasoned dry firewood.
- Burning of yard debris, trash or construction debris is prohibited.
- The use of accelerants such as gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel or lighter fluid is not permitted.
- The fire must be in a ring or pit to prevent accidental spread and must be 3 feet by 3 feet in size. The fire must be a minimum of 25 feet from structures.
- Fires must be attended at all times, and there must be a means of extinguishing the fire for the duration of the burning. The fire must be completely extinguished before leaving the site.
In the event a complaint is received, the Boardman Fire Department will dispatch a fire engine to investigate. The decision to extinguish the fire lies solely with the Fire Department officer.
