Entry-Level Police Officer

The Boardman Township Civil Service Commission has opened applications for full-time entry-level police officers from February 13 through 4:00 p.m. on March 13, 2026. This hiring period is limited to individuals who are currently certified by the Ohio Police Officer Training Commission (OPOT-C), recent academy graduates, or those enrolled in an accredited Ohio police academy by the application deadline. There is no written civil service exam for this process; instead, applicants will be ranked based on qualitative criteria, including education, prior law enforcement experience (up to five years), law enforcement training, and veteran status. The starting salary is $52,000 annually, with lateral pay up to $62,250 for qualified prior service. Candidates must meet age, citizenship, and background requirements and successfully complete a background investigation, medical exam, psychological exam, and physical agility testing before appointment.

Police Dispatcher
Boardman Township Police Department is seeking applicants for the position of Police Dispatcher at its Communications Center, which provides emergency dispatch services for 13 law enforcement and fire agencies throughout Mahoning County. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and successfully pass a background investigation, medical exam, psychological assessment, and drug screening; prior dispatch experience is preferred but not required. Ideal applicants demonstrate integrity, strong communication skills, emotional control, teamwork, multitasking ability, and a commitment to serving the community. Selected candidates will complete a 3–6 month paid training program on department policies and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems. Starting pay is $19.02 per hour ($39,555 annually) with increases after training and each year of service, along with comprehensive benefits including medical coverage, shift differential, paid leave, life insurance, and other incentives. Township Administrator
Boardman Township (Full-Time, Exempt)
Boardman Township is seeking a qualified Township Administrator to serve as the chief administrative officer under the direction of the Board of Trustees. The Administrator is responsible for overseeing all township operations, supervising departments and personnel, managing budgeting and financial oversight in coordination with the Fiscal Officer, supporting the Board through agenda preparation and policy development, and managing capital improvement and grant-funded projects. The position also represents the Township in interactions with residents, public officials, and community partners.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, management, or a related field, plus a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible management and supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability required.
