
Location Change Announced for February 12 Meeting
The Boardman Township Board of Trustees has changed the location of the Regular Meeting scheduled for Monday, February 12.
The meeting will still begin at 5:30 p.m. and it will take place at the Boardman Fire Department Main Station, 7440 Market Street.
ODOT Holds Virtual Open House Regarding Safety Improvements Along 224 Corridor
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 4 invites the public to participate in a virtual open house regarding proposed safety improvements along U.S. 224 between Market Street (State Route 7) and Tiffany Boulevard in Boardman Township, Mahoning County. A pre-recorded presentation will be made available to provide an overview of the project history, present the recommended alternative and receive valuable input from the public and local stakeholders. ODOT is seeking public input regarding the recommended alternatives.
The proposed project is currently in the environmental engineering phase which includes environmental studies and preliminary plan development. Right-of-way acquisition is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2024, followed by construction in the spring of 2026.
The virtual open house will be available January 29 through March 1, 2024. Project information and materials (e.g., presentation, handout, exhibits, comment form) may be requested from the contact below or can be viewed on the project website at the following link: publicinput.com/mah224#tab-40818.
We invite the public to visit the project website, view the presentation, review the available project information and the recommended alternatives, and submit your questions or comments via email, on the project website, or by direct contact at the address or phone number below. Comments received by March 1, 2024, will be compiled, replied to, and posted on the project website.

Boardman Township Fire Dept. Launches Ambulance Service
The Boardman Township Fire Department is pleased to announce the launch of its own ambulance service, beginning in January 2024. This new service aims to enhance emergency medical services in the community, alleviating strain on private ambulance companies and facilitating mutual aid with surrounding areas.
The decision to launch an in-house ambulance service follows several months of planning and discussion. “This new service will act as a safety net for emergency calls, reducing response times supporting both ambulance and fire personnel, and ultimately improving health outcomes for our residents,” said Boardman Fire Chief Mark Pitzer.
Why the change? “This valued service will provide additional protection to our Boardman residents and visitors to our community”, stated Boardman Township Chairman Tom Costello.
In addition, Boardman Professional Firefighters IAFF1176 President, Brian Hallquist said that they are “committed to providing the highest level of public service to the residents and visitors of Boardman Township.”
The Boardman Fire Department ambulance service will operate 24/7, providing Advanced Life Support (ALS) care. This service will significantly enhance the Township’s emergency response capabilities, improving access to critical care for residents in their time of need.

December Meeting Dates Changed
The Boardman Township Board of Trustees has canceled the regular meetings scheduled for Monday, December 11, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. and Tuesday, December 2023 at 5:30 p.m.
A regular board meeting will now take place on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. at the Boardman Township Government Center, 8299 Market Street.
RFQ for Professional Services for Stormwater Projects
The ABC Water and Storm Water District intends to contract for professional services for various projects within Boardman Township. The ABC Water and Stormwater District has been successful in receiving grant funding from various agencies, including FEMA. Statements of qualifications should include information regarding the firm’s history, education and experience of owners and key technical personnel, the technical expertise of the firm’s current staff, the firm’s experience in performing stream restoration and storm sewer work, availability of staff, the firm’s experience in working with ODOT, ODNR, FEMA and other Ohio and Federal agencies, references; any previous work performed for the Board of Boardman Township Trustees, and/or ABC Water and Storm Water District. Only ODOT pre-qualified firms will be accepted.
