It is because of this that the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, the Ohio Division of Natural Resources, and the local Fire Departments have laws and regulations regarding outdoor burning and fires. Statewide,<strong> outdoor burning is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">prohibited<\/span> during the spring months of March, April, and May from 6am to 6pm.<\/strong> Additionally, outdoor burning is <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">prohibited<\/span> during the fall months of October and November from 6am to 6pm.<\/strong> The dry conditions at these two times of year increase the possibility for wildfires to occur. In the event that we are called for outdoor burning during the listed ours, a report will be made with the Ohio EPA and parties may be subject to citation.<\/p>\n<p>We also have local rules and regulations in Boardman Township that must be followed when burning occurs during approved times.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The only approved burning material in Boardman Township is seasoned dry firewood.\n<ul>\n<li>Burning of yard debris, trash, or construction debris is prohibited.<\/li>\n<li>The use of accelerants such as gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel, or lighter fluid is not permitted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The fire must be in a ring or pit to prevent accidental spread and must be 3&#8242; by 3&#8242; by 2&#8242; (high) in size. The fire must be a minimum of 25 feet from structures\/combustible material.<\/li>\n<li>Fires must be attended at all times and have a means of extinguishment for the duration of the burning. The fire must be completely extinguished before leaving the site.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the event that a complaint is received, the Boardman Fire Department shall dispatch a fire engine to investigate. The decision to extinguish the fire lies solely with the fire department officer.
